For over ten years he has studied the Arabic and Turkish repertoire receiving instruction from Souhail Kaspar (as well as performing onstage with the master percussionist), Omar Faruk Tekbilek, Elias and George Lammam and Souren Baronian which in turn led him to co-create The Flying Bokhara Orkestrah and to found Hazz Hazz Hulu. Most of all the art form of belly dance is a passion for Eric and this page will keep you updated about workshops, classes, and events.
Live Music Belly Dance Workshops
Attention Teachers! Eric Stern continues to offer Live Music Masterclasses pairing up with teachers to offer the Art of the Taxim and drum solo for your classes, an interactive workshop where your students have the opportunity to work with Middle-Eastern musician, Eric Stern. Dancers used to working with canned music, are often not prepared to work with live musicians. Says Stern, “It’s easy to forget that choreographing dance to a CD is just one avenue of approach, but there’s nothing quite like the interaction between a dancer and a live musician–it’s electric! After working with so many dancers over the years I’ve realized that the best ones have gained this experience on stage, at camp, or in clubs. Why not bring a musician right into the class-room? I work with your dance students on soloing technique with accordion taxim and darbuka solos. I’ve worked with some of the best dancers in the business and want to bridge the gap between musicians and dancers. We all have a tremendous love for this art. Let’s play together!.” Class or private sessions available. To inquire about prices Email: email@example.com or call (503) 331 8544.
